Judgement Day
Mai 2000

That's the way it is, it's the way things go.
Friends are leaving as time goes by.

But they stay in my mind, not caring about the past
Some friends you see again or they call you.

Others you will have to please, before they start to move
None of us is getting any younger.
...
And then he started to tell how it used to be
And in my thoughts I knew he was right.

It's been cool, free and easy, joke and talk and trust.
Brotherhood of men, fooling around, having big things going.

And then things were changing. We saw one without hope.
A stumble made him stray from the path prepared for him.

Later then... meet again. Judgement Day was then.

Handle with care, those miles between us.
Not a wrong word.

The good times... that we've had. Mourning over friends.

I never wanted to say goodbye,
I never wanted to be the final cry.

That is what he might have been thinking...

Later then... meet again. Judgement Day was then.
The good times... that we've had. Mourning over friends.

I never wanted to say goodbye,
I never wanted to be the final cry...

No, not really a court of justice, but sort of the last judgment.
And as a jury does, we pronounced the verdict.
And as men do, we kept it straight
All the time

And quietly I yell it out, a long time after
The brotherhood of men had died.
